One of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ stars has filed for divorce. Illinois fans of the show may be interested to know that Mayim Bialik, the actress that plays Sheldon’s girlfriend on the hit sitcom, recently announced the split in a blog posting. The actress filed for divorce the same day she made the announcement.
The couple has been together for nine years. They are the parents of two boys, ages four and seven. She has requested joint custody of her children in the filing. Bialik, known for her ‘attachment parenting’ style, has said it has nothing to do with her divorce.
Bialik may be a bigger household name now that she is starring in the CBS hit comedy, but she initially shot to fame while starring in the sitcom ‘Blossom.’ It is likely her earnings from her recent show may come into play during her divorce. However, the filing is very new and there has been no word of any financial issues as yet. Further, it is unknown if the couple has a prenuptial agreement in place.
When an Illinois couple goes through a divorce, there can often be disagreements over property division, especially if one spouse has stayed home or made less money than the other. If this happens, it may be in their best interests to understand exactly what they are entitled to in a divorce case. Every situation is different, so property division for one will likely not be the same as another couple. Knowing one’s entitlements could help smooth over property division arguments and speed the divorce proceedings along.
