AAA criticizes marijuana driving impairment tests

Illinois has legalized the use of medical marijuana, but the law is relatively restricted compared to other states. Some of those states where the use of marijuana is allowed for both medical and personal use have tests that they use to determine whether a motorist is impaired by THC, the chemical that produces a high in marijuana users. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety has criticized those tests, however.

Asset protection before and during a divorce

Illinois couples who are facing the end of their marriage are likely aware that their financial situations will change as a result of having to now live on one income. There may be more immediate financial consequences as well. In addition to the professional fees and court costs associated with a divorce, people who will be moving out of the family home and into a rental will likely have to pay two months' rent in advance along with a security deposit. A new residence often has to be furnished as well.

Using social media during a divorce

Illinois couples who are getting a divorce should be careful about their use of social media. In some cases, it can create legal issues. For example, if a person is arguing for lower maintenance payments due to financial issues but photographs appear on social media taking what looks like an expensive vacation, that can call such a request into question. Parents who are photographed at a wild party might find those photos used to question their right to physical custody.
